For many years during the radio station’s heyday, the KLOL Rock n Roll Auction attracted dozens of rock artists and other notables who served as celebrity auctioneers. Auction organizers recall in particular the enthusiasm of Kip Winger, who sent us an autographed guitar for this campaign. The guitar features a photographic image of Winger on stage with Texas Radio Hall of Famer Dayna Steele, quite literally, auctioning the shirt of his back. In addition to Winger’s and Steele’s, autographs from other KLOL luminaries appear on the guitar, including Brian “The Boner” Shannon, Lanny “The Trafficmaster” Griffith, Outlaw Radio’s Grego, and the Night Watchman Keith Myles—all of whom served as KLOL auctioneers at one time.

“Sam”Washburn 4-String Bass Guitar

When actor/writer/musician Dennis Quaid learned of the plight of veterans with PTSD and the great work being done by Guitars for Vets, he agreed to sign a series of guitars for this fundraising effort. A total of six guitars were adorned with images reminiscent of movie roles played by Quaid, each hand painted by Houston artist Tra’ Slaughter.

For a minimum donation of $3500 you could own this beautiful Washburn bass guitar (Model AB-20). Not only is it autographed by Dennis Quaid (with a personal message) but also is decorated with hand-painted art by Tra` Slaughter depicting Dennis in his role as General Sam Houston in the 2004 movie "The Alamo".
